Refrigerant Types — What's the Difference?
R290 — Integrated Models
Propane-based refrigerant with an extremely low global warming potential (GWP). Highly efficient and considered one of the most environmentally responsible options in the market.
R744 (CO2) — Split Models
Natural CO2 refrigerant — GWP of just 1. Operates effectively across a wide temperature range including cold climates, making it excellent for Victorian winters.
VEU Rebates — We Handle Everything
Victoria's Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program offers significant rebates when upgrading from an electric resistance or gas hot water system to an approved heat pump. Both Thermann product lines are eligible.
Rebate amounts vary depending on your current system type, household circumstances, and the model installed. We confirm your eligibility during the quote, apply the rebate at time of installation, and you only pay the difference — no chasing paperwork, no extra steps on your end.
Note: a separate warranty condition applies if the VEU or Victorian Solar Homes programs were used at install — we'll walk you through what that means for your specific system.
Professional Installation Included
All Thermann heat pump installations are carried out by Dean Smith — licensed A Grade Electrician (Lic A63344) with 18+ years' experience. Supply and install quoted together, with correct weatherproof isolators, compliant electrical connections, and a clean worksite on completion. We don't just drop off a unit.
